Dogs have the same DNA and bone structure as the wild Wolf and communicate in the same way. They only look different because of man's interbreeding. In the Wolf pack there is an Alpha male and an Alpha female which have total control of all the decision making for their packs daily life. Such as hunting, breeding and marking territory. There is a strict pecking order and everyone knows their job and if a wolf is disloyal to its pack then its time for that wolf to move on.
We communicate with our dogs in a human way such as greeting them when we arrive home from shopping or work.To a dog this is paying homage to the dog and reasserting their leadership.You may say what is wrong with the dog being the Alpha? Well this is where all the problems arise. Because the dog being the leader gives them the decision making and responsibility of the pack which to your dog is you and your family. Because the dog does not understand what a car is or a hoover is, it gets very stressed and reacts in different ways such as non-stop barking, aggression, chewing or licking.
